Willie Charles Moore
Willie Charles Moore
Graduation Year: Class of 1978
Induction Year: 2011

Willie lettered for three years in football and track.  He played running back and linebacker on two SHS State Championship teams.  Moore was known for his tough, mean, nasty streak on the field and his polite manner off the field.  He was a very competitive individual.  Hall of Famer, Jon Williams a teammate, calls Moore the finest linebacker and one of the hardest hitters ever at Somerville who was overshadowed by other Hall of Famers during that era.

He was a tireless worker and punishing blocker.  Moore was named as the first pick at linebacker for the NJ All Star Game over Chet Parlavecchio who went on to star at Penn State and the NFL.  In track he ran the high and intermediate hurdles leading the team to the Mid State Title.

He was his senior class “Rembrandt” for his drawing and paintings and had a one person art show in the school gateway.  Ge earned a full athletic scholarship to play football at the University of Cincinnati.  He played and lettered two years, primarily on special teams.  After college Moore had a tryout with the Houston Oilers.  He became a renowned film, video, and animation artist with teaching experience in graphic arts.  He is an independent animator whose animated shorts have gathered numerous awards.
