"Tab" won four letters in football and four letters in track to show what an exceptional athlete he was. A four year starter in football, he was called by many who saw him play, the finest end in Somerville Football history. He was named to the 2nd team on the SHS All-Time Football Team from 1889 to 1939. A four year All County selection, he was named to the All State team for three years. “Great Brokaw” was the cry from SHS opponents because of the presence of the Brokaw brothers After high school, he played semi-pro football for the Somerville Ramblers and Manville Yellow Jackets.
Tab was a track star who did anything and everything for the team at SHS. He ran the sprints, jumped, and threw the weights. He carried the team with his talent for four years. He joined the Marines in 1941 and fought in WWII and in Korea. He earned the Bronze Star for bravery in Korea.
