Ernie guided the Pioneer football team from 1950 through 1955. His leadership helped the team win three Central Jersey, Group III titles in 1952, 53 and 54. His 1953 team was the first in school history to go unbeaten and untied.
Ernie was also an outstanding football player at Rutgers. He also served as a Somerset County Freeholder not long after leaving the coaching profession. He was a graduate of North Plainfield High School and Pennington Prep.
His wife resides in Hancock, New Hampshire.
