Pete was only 5’ 7” and 160 pounds playing middle linebacker.  He recorded 64 tackles, three interceptions, and four fumble recoveries in 1980.  He led the defense which allowed only 59 points in 10 games.  Pete was team captain and led the Pioneers to the 1981 Group III finals against Ewing Township.

Roethke was named 1st team All Area as a junior and 1st team All Area as a senior.  He was named 1st team All State Group III as a senior and 3rd team All State All Groups.  He was 1st team All County and 1st team All COnference.

Roethke served in the US Army for 28 years as an Army Ranger.  He had eight deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and four deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Some of his awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Army Achievement Medal.
