Another outstanding member of the dynamic Carty family, Sean was a four year letterwinner and prolific pass catching en. He was a three year first team All Conference wide receiver and two year All County first team selection. He was a 1st team selection All Area receiver in the Courier and Home News and a 1st team All State Group II receiver. He was NJEA/News 12 Scholar Athlete of the Week and All State Top 100 selection of the New Jersey Coaches committee. Sean was selected to play in the Governor's Bowl as one of the top 45 players in New Jersey. In seven games his senior year he had 36 catches for 745 yards, and nine touchdowns. He totaled 101 receptions for 1,603 yards and 17 touchdowns in his career at SHS.
Carty had the ability to take over a game. He was hurt in a late season game and played with an ankle injury for the rest of the season which hampered SHS from making the playoffs. George Arakelian called Sean one of the best athletes he ever coached.
He chose to play football at Rutgers University from his ten scholarship offers and lettered all four years. He had 21 career receptions for 272 yards while averaging 13 yards per catch. He also returned 28 punts for 259 yards, an average of 9.25 yards per return. Sean was the holder for field goals and extra points all four years.
