Josh may be the only player in SHS history to earn All State All Groups honors in both football and basketball.  In football he was an All Skyland Conference 1st team selection in his junior and senior years and 1st team All County and All Area selection.  He was named Somerset County Offensive Player of the Year and All State Group II 1st team in his senior year.  He earned 2nd team All State All Groups honors from both the AP and Gannett newspapers.  He split the season as a quarterback and end.

In basketball, he was 1st team All County, All Skyland Conference, and All Area for two years.  He was Courier News Player of the Year for two years.  As a senior he was 1st team All Group III and 3rd team All State All Groups.  He scored 1,170 points in his career leading his teams to 65 wins and 15 losses.  His senior year the team went 24-3 winning the Somerset County Tournament and finishing with the 2nd best record in school history.  He was selected to the North/South All Star game.

Hobbs was named Male Athlete of The Year by the Courier News and received the SHS Hall of Fame Athlete Scholarship Award.  As a full scholarship player at Rutgers, he lettered four years and finished his football career with 51 receptions for 632 yards and one touchdown.  He had a career long reception of 57 yards.
