Dave played on the 1924 team which marched through the season with only one defeat. His line play left little to be desired as his tackling and blocking worked havoc on the opposition. For his superior play, he was named to the 1st team as the starting tackle on the SHS All-Time 50 year team from 1889 to 1939.
Dave graduated from Rutgers University where he continued where he continued his stellar football career. He graduated from Harvard Law School and became an international diplomat. Under President Truman’s Administration, he was acting Secretary of Labor. He was Director General of the International Labor Organization for over 22 years. Dave was clearly one of Somerville’s most successful and influential sons.
