Ed won six varsity letters in football and baseball. He was the starting 3rd baseman on the baseball team and a leading tailback on the football team. He was called by Coach Sam Yohn, “the best ball handler in SHS history”. His best year was his junior year when he led the Pioneers in scoring and was named Honorable Mention All State. He was contacted by Notre Dame University informing him that they would consider recruiting him following a successful senior season. He was projected by many to be a 1st team All State selection for his senior season.
However, all of this ended suddenly when he seriously injured his knee during a scrimmage game against Plainfield High School, ending his sports career. He turned 79 years old in February and lives in Raritan.
