A multiple letter winner at SHS, Eder was one of the toughest fullbacks ever developed at SHS. “Bullet Ed” could always gain the needed yardage and it often took several tacklers from the opposing team to bring him down. He plunged like a battering ram, ran hard and with his knees high, had great ability to get away from tacklers. He was a tower of strength on defense as well.
A “Dream Team” (the best players in SHS history from 1889 to 1939) was picked by coaches, principals and players in 1940. Ed was a near unanimous choice for the fullback position. He was the leading vote-getter of all 11 first team selections.
To add to his laurels, Eder was named first team All State for two successive seasons. He was certainly one of the finest backs ever developed at SHS.
